  On May 18, 1963, Vanderbilt University and Dudley Field hosted John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. President Kennedy was in Nashville to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Vanderbilt University and to dedicate the construction of the Percy Priest Dam.

  Vanderbilt's McGugin Center is in the midst of a renovation that began in late January and is scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2012-13 academic year. The project has been able to stay on schedule, in part, due to favorable weather conditions in Nashville.

  Former Vanderbilt linebacker Chris Gaines earned First Team All-America honors in 1987 and was a four-year letterwinner for the Commodores. A tackling machine, Gaines recorded a school-record 214 stops in 1987. He also was responsible for 37 total tackles in a single game against Tulane.

• Barden, Richardson ink free agent deals
  Vanderbilt tight end Brandon Barden and safety Sean Richardson have signed free agent deals with National Football League teams. Two more Commodore seniors, offensive lineman Kyle Fischer and defensive lineman T.J. Greenstone, have been invited to rookie mini-camp tryouts.

  Defensive end Tim Fugger became the second Vanderbilt defensive player taken in the NFL Draft when he was selected in the seventh round by Indianapolis on Saturday.
• April Student-Athletes of the Month
  Vanderbilt football redshirt junior Jordan Rodgers and track & field senior Nia Washington have been named the Commodore Student-Athletes of the Month for April. The recipients are featured in a monthly Q&A on Vanderbilt's Academic Support website.
• Hayward picked by Packers in 2nd round
  Vanderbilt All-America defensive back Casey Hayward's dream of playing professional football drew closer to reality late Friday when he was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round (No. 62 overall) of the NFL Draft.
• Highlight reels of NFL prospects
  The 2012 NFL Draft gets underway Thursday night in New York City and according to most draft experts, at least three Vanderbilt players are likely to be selected during the three-day event. The Vanderbilt contingent is highlighted by second team All-America and All-SEC defensive back Casey Hayward, safety Sean Richardson and defensive end Tim Fugger.

  NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Big Ten Conference announced on Tuesday that Vanderbilt's game at Northwestern on Saturday, Sept. 8 will begin at 7 p.m. CT and will air live on Big Ten Network.
