• Forty-Three SMU Student-Athletes Earn Diplomas
  DALLAS (SMU) - On Saturday, 43 SMU student-athletes walked across the stage at Moody Coliseum in what was a defining moment of their college careers. It wasn't a game-winning goal or a long touchdown pass, but rather the simple handoff of a piece of paper - a college diploma. It marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of the rest of their lives and also marked the end of another successful academic year for Mustang student-athletes. This year, 31 SMU student-athletes earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal, each of whom have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better, while 205 SMU student-athletes were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll for maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
• Jones Named Top Coach In C-USA
  DALLAS (SMU) - The Sporting News has named SMU head Coach June Jones the top coach in Conference USA, the news outlet announced this week. Jones, who has led SMU to three straight bowl games, won his 100th game as a head coach in the Mustangs' 28-6 thumping of Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
• Beachum Named To NFF Hampshire Honor Society
  DALLAS (SMU) - Kelvin Beachum has been named to the 2012 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) announced today. The Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.
• Sanders Awarded No. 23
  DALLAS (SMU) - Mustang sophomore-to-be Stephon Sanders has been awarded the number "23" for the 2012 season, Head Coach June Jones announced Saturday, April 28, at the SMU Football Celebration.
• More Mustangs Taken In NFL Draft
  NEW YORK (SMU) - Mustangs Kelvin Beachum, Richard Crawford and Taylor Thompson were selected in the 2012 NFL Draft on Saturday, April 28. Thompson was chosen by the Tennessee Titans with the 10th pick of the fifth round (145th overall), Crawford was selected by the Washington Redskins with the sixth pick of the seventh round (213th overall) and Beachum was taken by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the 41st pick of the seventh round (248th overall). Beachum, Crawford and Thompson join teammate Josh LeRibeus, who was chosen with the eighth pick of the third round (71st overall), as 2012 Draftees. The four selections are the most for SMU since 1985, when Reggie Phillips, Dale Hellestrae, Ron Anderson and Chris Jackson were chosen.
• LeRibeus Chosen In NFL Draft
  NEW YORK (SMU) - SMU guard Josh LeRibeus has been selected by the Washington Redskins in the 2012 NFL Draft. Picked with the eighth pick of the third round (71st overall), LeRibeus becomes the highest SMU NFL pick since 1987, when Ron Morris and Jerry Ball were selected the second and third rounds of the Draft, respectively.
• Final Spring Practice Scheduled For Saturday At 11 A.M.
  DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU football team, which has competed in three bowl games in the past three years, will conclude spring practice with a final open session on Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. in Gerald J. Ford Stadium. The practice is free and open to the public.

  SMU fans can help bring a 2012 ESPN College GameDay commercial shoot to the Hilltop by participating in the Bring GameDay to Your Campus vote. • SMU's 2012 Season Opener To Air On FSN
  DALLAS (SMU) - Fox Sports Net has selected SMU's 2012 season opener at Baylor to air on national TV, it was announced today. To accommodate the broadcast, SMU and Baylor have agreed to move the game to Sunday, Sept. 2, with a 5:30 p.m. CT kickoff on FSN.
• Mustangs Kick Off Spring Practice On April 2nd
  DALLAS (SMU) - Following a season which saw them earn a third straight bowl berth, the SMU Mustangs will kick off spring practice on Monday, April 2, as the football team begins its preparations for the 2012 season. Head Coach June Jones and his staff will conduct 15 practice sessions over 26 days as they prep for another winning season.
• Palcic Named Offensive Line Coach
  DALLAS (SMU) - Bob Palcic has been named SMU's new offensive line coach, Head Coach June Jones announced today. Palcic, who has coached three Outland Trophy winners, comes to SMU after four seasons at UCLA, where he was Associate Head Coach - Offense and offensive line coach.
