• Sixty-Six Northern Illinois Student-Athletes Earn Degrees in 2011-12
  Northern Illinois will see 66 current and former student-athletes leave school with their NIU degrees in 2011-12 as 40 current and former Huskie student-athletes from 11 different sports programs earned their degrees from NIU Saturday. They join the 19 December graduates and seven others scheduled to complete their studies this summer. In all, student-athletes from 16 different sports programs will leave NIU with degrees in hand this year.
• NIU Athletics Media Relations Office Earns National Honor
  The Northern Illinois University Athletics Media Relations Office has been honored as a "Super 11" sports information department by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), the organization announced on Monday. The honor recognizes the best 11 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) departments in the nation during the 2011 season.
• Tickets to Soldier Field Showdown III Now On Sale Via Ticketmaster
  Tickets to Soldier Field Showdown III, the Labor Day Weekend college football match-up between Northern Illinois and Iowa at Chicago's landmark stadium on Sept. 1, are on sale to the general public through Ticketmaster, as well as the NIU Athletics Ticket Office, as of Monday, May 7 at 10 a.m. (Central). NIU plays host to the Hawkeyes on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the venue which has become the second home of the Huskies, Chicago's Soldier Field.
• The 2012 Victors Awards Honor Top Huskie Team, Student-Athletes
  Football senior Chandler Harnish and volleyball senior Kristin Hoffman were named Northern Illinois University's 2011 NIU Alumni Association Male and Female Athletes of the Year, headlining a list of 24 award winners honored Thursday night at DeKalb's historic Egyptian Theatre during NIU's third annual Victors Awards.
• Three Huskies Honored by the National Football Foundation
  A school-record three NIU football seniors gained membership in the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame's Hampshire Honor Society for 2012.
• Five Huskies Sign With NFL Teams
  NIU offensive tackle Trevor Olson and fullback Cameron Bell sign NFL free agent contracts with Tampa Bay and San Francisco, respectively.

  CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference announced a new four-year contract extension with long-time Mobile, Alabama bowl partner, the GoDaddy.com Bowl, through the 2017 football season.

  Chandler Harnish waited longer than anyone to hear his name called at the 2012 National Football League Draft.
• Travel Packages to NIU-Army Football Game Available
  Over the past decade, the Northern Illinois football team has played in some of college football's most storied locales, from Tuscaloosa, Ala. to Ohio State's "Horseshoe" and the "Big House" of Michigan, not to mention Chicago's Soldier Field. On September 15, 2012, Northern Illinois takes on the Black Knights of Army in West Point, N.Y. at historic and scenic Michie Stadium. It's the Huskies' first trip to the Hudson River Valley since 1992.

  NIU has the opportunity to show its Huskie pride to the nation by voting in College GameDay's Fan Vote contest.
• Red Defeats White 31-6 with Lynch in Charge
  After spending the past two seasons backing up record-setting teammate Chandler Harnish, quarterback Jordan Lynch showed that he plans a seamless transition into the starting role as he threw for 402 yards on 29-of-44 passing with four touchdowns Saturday at Huskie Stadium in Northern Illinois' Red-White Spring Football Game. Lynch led the Red team, composed of the Huskie starting units on offense and defense, to a 31-6 victory over the White team in the final spring football practice of 2012.
