In 20 years of existence, the program has won 638 games for a winning percentage of .547, and has appeared in 28 bowl games, also the team has won five conference championships, with the most recent title coming in 1980.

The Kenan Memorial Stadium is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and is the home field of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Kenan Memorial Stadium opened in 1927 and holds 60,000 people. It is located in a cluster of pine trees near the center of campus at the University of North Carolina, next door to the Bell Tower.
