New York Jets: Professional NFL football team headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey, representing the New York metropolitan area and member of the Eastern Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League.
The Jets hold the distinction of being the first AFL team to defeat an NFL club in an AFL-NFL World Championship Game, when they defeated the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.
The team had their most successful decade in franchise history in the 2000s, making five playoff appearances. In 2009 and 2010, the Jets achieved back-to-back appearances in the AFC Championship Game, losing to the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2010, the team began to play at the New Meadowlands Stadium, constructed near the now-demolished Giants Stadium.
